This weekend is the rematch between Emanuel Navarrette and Oscar Valdez. Though Navarrette dominated the first one, I don't mind that there is a rematch. Sure , Navarrette could've rematched Berinchyk, who hasn't fought since beating Navarrette. I would've liked a Stevenson or Loma fight even. The rematch should be still be entertaining.
I wanted to make this an appreciation post for Oscar Valdez and Emanuel Navarrette. Both fighters have been overachievers. Both are multiple division world champions. Valdez had seven defenses of his featherweight belt. Navarrette has world titles in three different weight divisions and almost got his fourth. I believe he will.
They're also action fighters and never give up in their fights. Valdez came forward the whole fight against Stevenson, where he was clearly overmatched. Navarrette has an awkward style which gives his opponents difficulty and could make for an awkward fight, but the volume of punches he throws usually creates an exciting fight.
I could see either of these guys winning another world title, especially Navarrettes, but not dominating a division. That's okay though, because they've already achieved more than they probably should have.

Is heavyweight the best division in boxing again? YES!
Since Wilder vs Fury I, the heavyweight division has given boxing fans the most competitive and exciting fights. Usyk is the clear king of the division, but even he isn't unbreakable. He narrowly beat Fury and let's not forget Dubois gave him trouble in their controversial fight. Speaking of DuBois, he's having a career Renaissance along with Joseph Parker. Big Bang Zhang has become a star in his own right with wins against Wilder and Joe Joyce. Shoot, even Francis Ngannou has surpassed us! Wilder and Fury, being willing to fight each other has a little bit to do with it, but the credit has to go to Turki Alalshikh and Riyadh Season for making most of these fights. If he's not good for boxing, at the very least, he's been great for the heavyweight division.

It was a close fight last night. I wasn't really scoring it throughout the fight, hence no video. But who do you think won?

Shame how little promotion this fight has gotten. This might be the fight of the weekend. I've missed the super flyweight wars.
