I've been relatively quiet here the past month or so but appreciate the support as always.

I spent a lot of time practicing and learning theory this year which meant fewer new songs. Had a good run posting weekly here for ~2 years and want to get back into the groove.

Still working on my city pop project and hoping to put that out early 2025. New videos in progress, too

Thanks for watching, listening, sharing, etc.

Really trying to one-up myself with "dumbest videos I've made" but this one was actually a lot of fun.

Fun fact: it's actually surprisingly difficult to hunt down the original images from the Microsoft Clip Art library circa 1996 (or maybe I didn't dig hard enough).

Sharing here because I have a feeling the title of this one is going to throw off the alg*rithm lol

cheers!

hey there!

This came together last-minute and I'm bad at promotion but WE REALLY LOVE IT HERE is streaming now.

This album started as my attempt at musak, elevator music, etc. Kind of upbeat, kind of tropical, still vaporwave-adjacent. Really hope you enjoy it.

I just uploaded a brand new video for "Aperitif Island" which I likewise hope you enjoy.

Thanks for the listens, likes + comments, kind words, etc. All very much appreciated.

MEMORY TONES was released (almost exactly) a year ago today. 🎂

(In case it doesn't look familiar, I actually redid the album art a month or so back)

In retrospect, I definitely have mixed feelings about the project. I learned that perhaps there's such thing as TOO lo-fi and it's easy to go overboard with trashing recordings for the sake of an "aesthetic."

But I really wanted to put something out there and set an arbitrary goal of making a toy keyboard album. So it goes.

One thing I do appreciate about writing an album on one "instrument" is the creative restrictions and simplicity of it all. I'm sure that analysis paralysis and preset-cycling is a not-so-silent killer of so many projects using soft synths.

With MEMORY TONES, there were only a handful of usable presets: 90% of the album is FLUTE, HUMAN VOICE, VIOLIN and/or TRUMPET. I kind of love that.

If nothing else, this project was my gateway into eventually finding the motivation is properly start learning piano/keyboard which I've really only been taking seriously since the beginning of this year.

I assume it's an oft-cited challenge of being a musician in 2024 but it's tricky to balance writing "proper" albums and then putting out sketches. Like, when do works-in-progress "stop?"

There are countless sketches I've probably spent more time on than any given song on MEMORY TONES. The same applies to pretty much everything released before THIS COULD BE YOUR DREAM VACATION.

Then again, I put something out every week as a form of motivation because self-imposed deadlines work. I've learned so, so much as a result. Also, I really enjoy doing it.

Anyway, my new video this week may or may not be a reimagined MEMORY TONES track. Thanks for listening.

I have been secretly waiting for SECRET SAVE ROOM to be dethroned as my most-viewed video.

Over 9,000, etc. Thank you, thank you.

Cheers to everyone that's been checking out the old VGM mixes and new original music alike.

I've recently been going down the rabbit hole of using 80s/90s hardware to compose with MIDI. Meanwhile, my YouTube recs have been filled with "fruitiger aero" mixes which have really been piquing my interest lol.

But yeah, really appreciate all of the recent subscribers and listens!

New music coming soon always and forever.

Truly humbled by this write-up from Orlando Weekly on myself and THIS COULD BE YOUR DREAM VACATION.

I can't really emphasize how much I appreciate the support.

Whether it's for the music, VG covers, visuals, vibes, etc. Thank you for listening and sticking around.

Cheers to everyone that streamed (and continues to stream) THIS COULD BE YOUR DREAM VACATION.

Really appreciate it.

My latest song/video is actually a reimagining of an old song from my Casiotone project ("Mannequin Time") which I felt deserved better treatment than being played on a toy keyboard.

It's very tempting to go back and revisit/remaster everything but I'm trying to leave older tracks behind and move forward. I'm really pleased with this one, though. Thanks as always for watching and listening.

Hey,

Really stoked to reach 200+ subscribers before the end of 2023. I appreciate it. Welcome, new listeners.

Seems like a good time to officially announce the release date for my full-length project (it's soon):

THIS COULD BE YOUR DREAM VACATION
COMING TO SPOTIFY, BANDCAMP, ETC
1/2/2024

13 songs, 30+ minutes of music (THAT'S VALUE).
Slightly less amateurish mixing, generally more effort.
If you liked "CURRENT TEMPS," it's more of that.

Really pleased with how the videos for this project turned out, too.

I'm excited to get these songs out there and dedicate more time to focusing on production and songwriting in 2024.

Thanks for listening.
