Since last November I have spent many nights sleeping in my little blue car.

It is probably about the tiniest home that I can imagine, considering that I must keep my instruments with me.

I have these pieces of cardboard that I have cut out to cover the windows at night. They provide a sense of privacy.

Often times I feel very content living this way. And often times I do not.

Sometimes I see homeless people who have no car and I know that I am still a rich man.

The greatest result from all of this is that I am now living my life as an intercession for all of us, the entire planet and all the life here.

It is clear to me how consumed we are by consumerism: I pray for my wealthy friends now because I see how much they suffer. We are all stuck in our unconscious responsibility to the many types of conveyor belts which support our economy.

The economic system is the god we choose to serve. We created this god and this god is our brutal master.

I pray that together, we might find more helpful ways of being in this world. My life is now this prayer. It must be, otherwise I am overwhelmed by the hopelessness of my personal situation.

We believe that we are obligated to participate in macro-systems which disrespect our living planet. We believe that we must participate in these soul-crushing systems which disrespect our world-neighbors in diverse and many ways. We cannot know true love when our allegiance is misaligned.

Obviously, living in my car does not make me less guilty than you. In fact, I have noticed how bound I remain to the decisions that we have made as a species.

My life, like yours, is drifting the edge of oblivion. Living in my car just puts me more in touch with that reality.

It is time to change our ways. We must be able to discern depth, and we must align our labor with with our deepest common values.

We need our grandchildren and their children to see that we were brave enough to do something different.

Let’s make some new mistakes! Are we not exhausted and bored with the results of the old ones?
