There are 72 Shem angels and deciding which angel is the right one to petition for your goal can be daunting. Fortunately, I have made it easier by listing them all in categories:

Simply look for a category that broadly fits your petition and choose one of those angels. Even then one could end up with three or four good candidates! How to decide which is best? Here are a few strategies.
Drawing Lots:
Drawing lots is a suitably biblical, and most importantly, easy approach. To do so simply write each candidate's name on a separate slip of paper. Put these in a bowl and then recite the following words:
"The lot is cast into the lap, but it's every decision is from the Lord". (Proverbs 16:33)
Mix all these around as you pray the above words then randomly draw a name.
Dream Incubation:
Write your list of candidates on a single piece of paper. Then, before bed pray to the Divine and the angels that the correct name be shown to you in a dream. Be sure to read the list of names contemplatively before settling to down to sleep. Fold the paper up and put it under your pillow. Then as you fall asleep gently repeat the word "angel" in your mind. Drift off to sleep repeating the word. Again, don't do this with aggression or tension in your mind that will disturb your sleep. Soft mental repetitions are all that are needed. Upon waking note your dream down. See if you were shown a name, letter some other clue as to which angel is best suited. You also might just wake up "knowing" which one is the right angel.
Shem Tarot Spread:
For tarot enthusiasts, a workable option is to choose at least three candidates and then use the following tarot spread to divine which of these is best. It includes a position for advice too, so pay attention to what this card has to say - it will give extra information that can help you choose the best angel.
