@brentshipman5909 has used one of my videos to do another cover of his own. This time he's doing "Feels So Good." It's so much fun! Check it out!

Keeping the weekly streak alive! Sound Design Tutorial is up for Love Walks in. I've never heard it discussed before, but I believe part of the keyboard sound is...a Hammond Organ. Watch the video and learn the details!

Another OB-8 Sound Design tutorial is up! This time it's "Feels So Good" off OU812. Not a big hit for the band, but a hidden gem that I've always loved. You'll notice quite a few similarities in the sound design with WCTBL as well.

New video! For my fellow OB-8 owners (and OB-X8 owners too, I imagine) here's how to get the sounds for "Why Can't This Be Love?" More to come in the following weeks!

I was honored that @brentshipman5909 wanted to use my keyboard track to do his own cover of "Dreams." He did everything else, with his wife providing vocals. It's such a fun video! Check it out!

New video up! This was inspired by a comment from @thefonzkiss on my last video. It's a keyboard cover of "Not Enough" off Balance, with the concept being, "what might this song have sounded like if it was on 5150?" Check out the video description for details of how that was accomplished. Enjoy!

April 19th, 2024 is the 40th Anniversary of Van Halen's concert in Montreal, Quebec. This is a very special concert for me. Not because I was there, (I wasn't, sadly) but because it was one of the very first video bootlegs I ever owned. Back in high school in the 80s, me and my friend pooled our money together to buy a ton of Van Halen bootleg VHS and audio cassettes from an ad in the back of a guitar magazine. I watched that concert so many times - my favorite moment being the way the crowd went absolutely nuts at the beginning of Jump, which had JUST become their first "number one" hit. You should check out on YouTube - the energy from the crowd shakes the camera so much it looks like old 7-11 security cam footage of an earthquake. My keyboard cover of "Jump" has the "live ending" based on what they did in that video.

To commemorate this, I decided, instead of doing a performance video, to try and replicate the keyboard solo Ed does for Dave's martial arts/sword routine as closely as possible - a complete recreation with crowd noises and everything. I know, I know - I'm no Ed. (BELIEVE me I know!) I just thought this would be a fun project and something cool to commemorate the 40th anniversary of this show.

I'm still trying to figure out how to get my new keyboard repaired, and once I do, I'm so looking forward to doing another VH track. In the mean time, I'm also planning on making some sound design tutorials for my follow OB-8 owners on how to recreate the sounds for "Jump", "Why Can't This Be Love?" and "Feels So Good."

I hope you enjoy the new video! It's set to go live at midnight on the 40th anniversary!

Thanks, and an update!

I just noticed that my keyboard-only version of "Love Walks In" just hit 10k views! Wow, thanks everyone!

The update: I bought a new keyboard! It's something Ed used, so I'll be using it to do another video re-creation...BUT, it'll be a while, because it's currently non-functioning. I have to replace capacitors, the power supply, all that jazz. But I can't wait until it's all working! Thanks for your continued views!

Being the tail-end of the 40th Birthday of '1984', and since said album is the reason I became a VH fan at 12 years old, here's a non-public version of me playing "1984 and "Jump". After uploading my original version, I realized I wasn't playing the main riff as well as I could, so I re-recorded it, also fixing some of the second keyboard parts to make them more accurate to the album version. I didn't bother recording picture, so it's still the same video as before, but with a much better performance.

Happy Birthday '1984'!
