Got the orange boy back from the shop! There is still a vibration, but it’s much improved now. They checked for the tire balance and roundness and found both to be out of spec. In particular, they said the tires were a bit egg-shaped and not perfectly round. After moving them around and performing a road force balance, the vibration has improved. I’m still a bit concerned because that passenger axle looked suspicious to me and the vibration still seemed to be there before I installed these tires and when I swapped Kelsey’s wheels and tires onto my car. I’ll still do some digging on my end but at least some improvement has been made. I still have new coilovers coming in so I’m excited to see how they feel and if that makes any difference as well.

Sadly the MX-5 is going to be down for a little bit. Trying to pinpoint the source of a vibration/wobbling from the rear at highway speed. So far I’ve traced it down to the passenger side axle which seems to be wobbling back and forth a bit as the wheels turn. I’ll be taking the car in to Mazda for a better look and see what we can do to fix it. Until then, I still have some content planned and even more once the car is fixed!

Moving to Knoxville has been a great experience so far! So many more fun driving roads than in Orlando and plenty of new opportunities. I have a couple of videos in the works right now and am very excited to get back into uploading for you guys early next year! In fact, the picture below is a behind-the-scenes look at some filming I was doing for my next video.
