We are Frank and Leslie Coles. We moved aboard our Nordhavn 62, MV Kariwa to continue our lives together. Kariwa is the Batonka tribe name for Kariba, a town in Zimbabwe (previously Rhodesia). It is where Frank grew up and also first met Leslie. The logo on the boat is of Nyaminyami, the river god of the great Zambezi River, upon which the Kariba Dam is built. Kariwa means trap, and the Batonka called the dam the water trap… This is our story, our memories and our future.. as we move forwards we will recount the past, show the present and plan the future. See us on Instagram @mv_kariwa_n62
After 12 years at sea, a Master Mariner and 40+ years in the maritime and technology industry it is only natural Frank went for the Nordhavn 62 as the passage maker of choice. He looks forward to sharing his comparisons and thoughts as he gets to know the boat and remembers back to his time at sea in the merchant marine.
