Join us this weekend for a FREE live stream virtual tour. In order of appearance, we'll be in:

Kyoto
Tokyo
Prague
Buenos Aires

Details below, please share and let us know in the comments if you have any questions, requests, or just to say hi and let us know you'll be watching:)

Kyoto: The Bamboo Forests of Arashiyama Experience, w/ Shohei Toyoda

Join us for a truly magical adventure. Despite being the 2nd most photographed place in Kyoto, no picture could ever capture the feeling of walking through this bamboo forest. It feels like being in another world, an escape from reality into a movie about ancient Japan. When they talk about “virtual experiences”, this is what they mean. Despite being in the city of Kyoto, this district is rich with scenery. Mountains, rivers, and the breathtaking greenery of the bamboo towering above us; it’s no wonder that this is where the wealthy elite of Old Japan built their vacation homes. In addition to the natural beauty, Shohei will lead us on our exploration into some small local craft shops and teach us about typical street foods as he samples a few himself, an extension of our own senses of taste and smell. "Who knows, maybe as we together cross the Togetsukyo Bridge, he might be inspired to share a song with us as we watch the people around us and the river below us flow past, as it has done for a thousand years."

Tokyo, Asakusa: Live Stream Tour of Sensoji-Temple at Night w/ Dai from Japan Localized

Join Dai as we explore Tokyo for the first time! Established in 628, Sensoji is the oldest Buddhist temple in the nation’s capital, and we’ll visit around the main building together. Together, we’ll virtually visit the famous Kaminami-mon, or “Thunder Gate”, which is the official symbol of Tokyo, normally attracting 30 million visitor a year. We’ll also immerse ourselves in the real time lives of the locals at the oldest shopping arcade in Japan (Nakamise), known for its street foods and souvenirs. Dai won’t just walk us around to wonder at the beauty of the lit-up Sensoji-Temple, he’ll help us understand how modern Tokyo developed from this ancient area.

Prague’s Jewish Quarter Experience; Synagogues, the Jewish Cemetery, and the Preservation of Josefov

Join us and John Paul in Prague, as he returns to explore the Jewish Quarter with us, a district perhaps more famous than the city itself. The four important synagogues we'll visit speak to a different time in history, before the Third Reich and the Holocaust decimated the thriving community which had existed for a 1,000 years, one of the oldest Jewish communities in Europe. It’s impossible not to speak to that momentous moment in human history and its impact on Jewish Prague, but we’ll be focusing on the time before and after those dark days. We’ll see Franz Kafka’s house and statue, we’ll hear the legend of the Golem which defended the community from anti-Semitic attacks, and through John Pauls’ excellent live stream guiding skills, we’ll immerse ourselves together in one of the most interesting and special places in the world.

Buenos Aires Experience, the Secret Heart of the City Live Stream w/ Gabo Candal of The Five Cousins

Join us and Gabo for this, our first live stream from South America. We’ve picked the capital of Argentina to start what very might end up a road trip through several countries, cultures, and certainly centuries of history. Buenos Aires, often called the Paris of Latin America, has stolen the hearts and inspired the minds of writers, artists, and musicians for generations. Gabo is a “5 Senses” type of guide, and on this virtual experience his live stream will help us really feel like we’re there with him exploring the heart of the city, its sounds and smells, the feel of the air, and we’ll even have a chance to taste some of its most famous cuisine. Although we know Gabo from Barcelona, he’s returned to his hometown to share his passion for his city and country with us. And also to get married: make sure to congratulate our dear friend when you see him!

Tampa, Florida's Italian History through Food Experience w/ Kimberly McAvoy of Tampa Bay Food Tours

https://youtu.be/38SKPTqf9LQ

Italians have been an integral piece of Tampa/Ybor City growth since its earliest days, drawn at first to the available work in “Cigar City”, they brought their families, their culture, and (thank goodness) their food. Today, Florida is one of the several US states with concentrated Italian-American populations, and Tampa has greatly benefited from their multigenerational influence. On this food and history experience, Kimberly will help us understand Italian roots in Tampa, and why it is as much a destination for Italian cuisine as it is for beaches, blue water, and good living. Pour a glass of wine, whip up some pasta, and join us for some delicious bites. Mangia!

Kyoto Sakura by Night Experience w/ Shohei Toyoda
Saturday, April 3rd

https://youtu.be/cAUMUy_SMCg

Night walking in Kyoto is a popular local activity and the city does a professional job illuminating the most magical spots. Join us as we discover Maruyama Park and Kiyomizu Temple, popular for people-watching locals in the evening. As we cross together into the bewitching hour where history and legend overlap in the shadows, Shohei will share historic Spring traditions for this season. Between his storytelling and the special optics of Kyoto after dark, the stage is set for our night exploration together.

(Also on this experience: lit up views of Maruyama Park's cherry blossoms
- night view from Ninennzaka hill, majestic light up of Yasaka Pagoda tower
- Spring season light up at the Kiyomizu temple)

Singapore’s Marina Bay Experience at Night with Bernard Koh, Private Guide
Saturday, April 3rd

https://youtu.be/jGqEi1IvWrc

The Republic of Singapore has the 2nd highest population density in the world, whilst maintaining a very high quality of life, and locals use every opportunity to find some space, especially during this last year. Join Bernard and stroll with us, as we travel to the Marina Bay at night, where locals avoid the heat of the day on the 3 km promenade. We’ll explore a last regal testament to the British, and the architectural wonders of the Marina Bay Sands and the Esplanade, while taking in artwork and stunning views along the way. A highlight will be your introduction to the national symbol of Singapore, but we won’t spoil the surprise here! This live stream assumes you’re a first-time visitor to Singapore, but locals are especially welcome as regional pride is legendary, and part of our experience. Connect with new and old friends on this virtual trip.

Saturday April 3rd

https://youtu.be/7fqsxL5xusI

From the gothic twin steeples of the Tyn Church, to the Astronomical Clock, from the Jan Huss Memorial statue, to the iconic Karlov Most and the best views of the Castle and the river, this picturesque city cradles a vivid history, seen through its buildings and John Paul’s storytelling. Come together with old and new friends on this virtual trip through the heart of Prague.

https://youtu.be/NUamf1GQYXk

Spring is here, and that means the Sakuras (Cherry Blossoms) are blooming! Join us for a very rare experience along Kyoto's famous “Philosophers Path”, named after the many academics who favor this walkway to clear their minds and focus their thoughts. Shohei’s exploration will highlight not only the magic trees and their short-lived blossoms, but also focus on the people of Kyoto who use this annual event to don their kimonos and enjoy the symbolic start of the Spring. Of course, we’ll see a few shrines and temples along the way, like the Honenin Temple, as well as some old train tracks and lots and lots of these special trees fully in bloom surrounded by the people of Kyoto. The Beaufort Experience with Bill Reynolds, founder of Beaufort Tours (4pm EST)

Beaufort is one of those places that is so charmingly beautiful, you wonder if you’re walking through a movie. Nestled on the coast between Savannah and Charleston, the unlucky traveller could drive by the exit to what was the original capital of all of the Spanish “La Florida”. Spanish moss-dried Live Oaks separate the stunning Antebellum houses, providing a historical and physical background for Bill to weave together the people of Beaufort and their stories.
