I've gotten some questions about color management with Nikon Raw and the Nikon N-RAW blue channel clipping. My team and I have actually been doing a lot of deep testing since we talked to Nikon about this issue at NAB. We've really only had two questions: is this a Nikon Sensor issue or is is this a color matrix issue in Resolve. These are our findings:

I had the privilege of being the very first individual to test shoot with the new DZO Arles Prime Lens set. I've sat on this footage since April 14, and my feelings remain the same. This are superb set of prime lenses.

At the end of the day, it's not about how we feel as creators about these situations, but what our audience members are trying to convey. And, to be quite honest, it does nothing but help everyone in the industry if we take some of the concerns to heart. To deduce the conversation right now simply down to brand trips would be a travesty of the crux of the issue. Right now is the opportunity to really take a good look at the industry. We all want to eat... we all deserve to eat. We all deserve to do fun things and have cool experiences. But we also have a responsibility to maintain self-awareness about what a situation really is and make sure we do our best to convey that to our audiences. Only then can we build and sustain the trust that is fundamental to our community and the broader industry.
If you are someone on the other end, then I feel for you. I am deeply disheartened by the tone I see being taken with the audiences that have allowed these individuals to have the opportunities that they do, simply over a disagreement. I leave you with this: my best piece of advice when it comes to buying any camera or any piece of camera gear is to 100% recommend renting it first if you can. Even if you trust me or any other creator, simply put, we all have different styles and wants. What works for me or isn't a deal breaker for me, may not be the case for you.

Better late than never was 100% my motto when creating this video. But hey, we didn't choose the work for yourself life to put ourselves in the same position we would be in at a nine to five. Gentle reminder to take care of yourself! With that said, what was your favorite NAB announcement this year?

I've been reluctant to upload HDR grades in the past because of issues with YouTube, but I really loved the results we got out of the Z8 and the new PAVO Lenses. Be sure to watch on an HDR display even though YouTube will convert to SDR. Generally, most newer cellphone displays are HDR.

I Facebook messaged one of my friends from Nitze and asked if they had anything for the Nikon Z8, and the next thing I know I had a box on the way. Only to find out, none of it actually released yet! So this is an exclusive first look at their new rig kit coming to market soon!
