STATEMENT - FUTURE OF MY CHANNEL
Dear ones,
you've probably noticed that it's been very quiet on my channel since Jamuary 2024. My uploads have decreased and I've more or less withdrawn.
The reason is a creative block, the cause of which I couldn't find. Every artist has phases like that, I know that, and when you think about how many jams have been created in recent years, you could also say: Of course you need a break.
But that's not the reason.
I thought about it for a really, really long time and I went and asked myself why I suddenly have no more ideas, no drive, no desire.
It's not my life. I lead a great life. As you know, I've been living in a trailer since last year, so I'm living the dream that many people have. I have wonderful children, a job that fulfills me and great hobbies. And yet there's suddenly a block when I think about my music.
Well, to avoid keeping you in suspense any longer: I have found the cause. It is the YouTube memberships on my channel.
Let me explain, please.
I have always freely shared my music and my art with you. I was happy when I could motivate others, when I could convince you to make music yourself, to find yourself, to develop your skills. I was happy about your comments, I really enjoyed discussing with you what makes music, how we can get more music on this planet. And every now and then I provided you with something, and left it up to you whether you wanted to thank me with words or with money. I am aware that there are people who would rather pay than write a sentence or two. That is completely fine with me. And leaving a tip on my channel under one of my videos is also completely fine, as it acknowledges something that I have already done.
The memberships are different. Here you pay me for something that I have not done yet. This puts me under pressure to make music now, otherwise I feel guilty. This pressure in turn creates a blockage that destroys the entire creative part and my motivation.
For this reason, I have decided to deactivate memberships from tomorrow, August 1st, 2024. For my members, this means that their membership will then end. If you would like a refund of your contributions already made, please let me know and tell me your preferred transfer platform (preferably Paypal, if that is possible). It is important for me to finish everything related to membership once and for all. I hope you can understand that.
Please give me a few more days to process all of this. There is already great news. KORG has given me a gift and I want to celebrate it appropriately with you. So stay tuned. Synthember2024 is also coming up, which I am really looking forward to.
Finally, let me say that I am very grateful for such a warm and loving community.
