As a gallery for contemporary art in Berlin, LOOCK focuses on the promotion of European, American and Japanese artists in the fields of photography, painting and installation. In addition to cooperating with upcoming voices from the art scene, one of the gallery's core concern is to promote the work of East German photographers. In 1988, Friedrich Loock founded 'Galerie Wohnmaschine' in his private apartment in former East Berlin. 20 years later in 2008, the gallery relocated to a larger exhibition space and was renamed to LOOCK while expanding its program.
