I used to refuse to spend a bunch of money on shoes and clothing. Now, I spend even less money.
I shifted my mind set from someone who didn't spend more than "x" on "x" ($100 on shoes) to someone who seaked out the absolute best value for my money. What that did was cause me to buy things that lasted longer and not buy everything that simply met my financial criteria.
I now buy less shoes and clothing on a monthly basis but find that I enjoy each clothing item I have far more.
If this is something you strive to do yourself, I am looking to bring it into multiple aspects of my life.
