I will be going to Waterloo area this weekend to railfan. I may also go to surrounding areas to catch other trains. Hopefully the video will be edited and published on the same day.

The EF1 tornado that hit the small town of ayr was devastating to say the least. Me and my family were on our way to Toronto for a weekend trip. When we saw multiple fire trucks speed past us and we thought. ā€œOh, there must be an accident.ā€ (I mean, itā€™s the 401. No wonder there would be an accident.) but then we exit the 401 and for 5 minutes we were driving just outside ayr. Not knowing just a few kilometres away, there was a tornado. But then, out of the corner of my eye, I saw what looked like a funnel cloud lifting into the sky (1st picture). So we drive towards it. (Donā€™t do that) and we get closer to greenfield Ontario. (East of ayr) and we see lots of snapped/uprooted trees. (4th and 5th pictures), and then we go down a populated street, and people were soaked and looked shell shocked. We drive further and a bunch of houses were damaged (2nd and 3rd pictures) and a tree was on the road. Which meant we couldnā€™t go any further. So later on we go through Mississauga and the whole highway was a river (still the 401). So the next day we go back to ayr. Thatā€™s when we see just how much damage there was. Damaged silos, houses, trees, a completely damaged home hardware (which is sadly getting torn down) trains on their side (tried to get footage of it but couldnā€™t) a flipped truck, camper trailer flipped onto its roof, and downed power lines. Thankful that we didnā€™t get caught in this tornado. My heart goes out to all affected by this storm. The video of all the damage will be out this week sometime. Thanks for reading.

For some reason youtube wonā€™t work and when I press publish video it doesnā€™t do anything. So until itā€™s fixed, advent calendar day 7 and 8 will be delayed. Thank you for reading this important message.
