Describing God: Book Club
As some of you know, I have struggled to remedy or learn to live with the disjunction between philosophy and theology/religion. I have also been speculating that maybe the one thing I should not do is dive into dense works expecting to find God. Instead, I decided it would be more fruitful to do something counter to my immediate reflex and read "Christian" fiction instead. That being said, the aim of this project is a long journey of discovery and further questioning. I plan to have this club meet on Wednesdays from 10am-12pm MT (Mountain Time). The hard days I cannot do are Sundays and Tuesdays. If you need a different day than the set day, let me know if other times are more convenient for you. We will start 01/03.24. Once we have solidified a time. I will send out a more expansive week-by-week schedule. I will also be starting a patreon/membership of $4 to support me in this journey. But I will note, you do not need to pay anything to be in this book club. The membership is strictly for reading my own reflections and thoughts concerning certain passages while updating you on my questions about God.
Here is the provisional reading list starting 01.03.24 (if we keep Wednesday).
1. Wise Blood by Flannery O'Connor
2. Jayber Crow by Wendell Berry
4. The Moviegoer by Walker Percy
5. Brothers of Karamazov or Crime and Punishment by Dostoevsky
