Deputy Ambassador of Japan Inaugurates Lacrosse Academy at Federal College of Education, Islamabad
Islamabad, December 20, 2024 – Under the banner of the Pakistan Lacrosse Federation (PLF) and the Islamabad Lacrosse Association (ILA), a groundbreaking lacrosse academy has been established at the Federal College of Education (FCE), Islamabad. The inauguration ceremony was graced by Mr. TAKANO Shuichi, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of Japan in Pakistan.
The Japan Lacrosse Association generously donated lacrosse equipment to the Pakistan Lacrosse Federation as part of a Sports Diplomacy grant. Engr. Taifoor Zarin, CEO/Founder of the Pakistan Lacrosse Federation, and Mr. Zahid Awan, Secretary of the Islamabad Lacrosse Association, led the event alongside coaches Muqaddas, Gul Pari, Sawaira, and Fozia, who conducted workshops and training sessions for all players.
In his speech, Mr. TAKANO Shuichi lauded the rapid development of lacrosse in Pakistan, highlighting that the PLF had successfully conducted over 150 activities and two national championships within a year, making Pakistan the fastest-developing lacrosse nation in Asia. He emphasized the importance of Sports Diplomacy in strengthening the bond between Japan and Pakistan, recognizing Pakistan as a key ally of Japan. Mr. Takano also pledged Japan’s continued support in fostering the growth of lacrosse in Pakistan.
The ceremony was further honored by the presence of Mr. TAKANE Kazumasa, Counselor of the Japanese Embassy in Islamabad, and Mr. Rafay Haleem, Cultural Advisor at the Embassy of Japan. Dr. Samia Dogar, Director of the Federal College of Education, expressed her appreciation for the establishment of the lacrosse academy and assured her full support for its growth.
Engr. Taifoor Zarin extended his gratitude to the Japan Lacrosse Association, the Embassy of Japan, and its dignitaries for their invaluable contributions. He also acknowledged the relentless efforts of Mr. Zahid Awan and Dr. Samia Dogar in making this initiative a reality.

1. Matches will follow World Lacrosse rules and regulations.
2. Teams must adhere to the match schedule and maintain discipline throughout the event.
3. Violations of the code of conduct will result in disciplinary action.
