The prank call is fundamentally an act of resistance. Large national and multinational corporations are becoming more powerful and unstoppable than ever. For the average citizen, one small way that these giants can be resisted is as easy as dialing a number toll-free. Ironically, this form of resistance to corporate domination is expressed using the very communication channels established, at least ostensibly, for companies to solicit and receive consumer feedback.
