I've been working on a new version of Duck Buddy. I've mostly been working on the big view. I've found with this new GUI it's really easy to get the perfect Gain Reduction shape because you can just draw it to match the contour of the kick drum. This means you're never sidechaining more than you have to and you can get back to the bassline as soon as possible. Let me know what you think!

Check out this awesome 30min video of my set from Wicked Woods last summer including a direct live audio recording! It's so crazy to see everything from this perspective. While I'm DJing, I'm focusing on what I'm doing, there are lights in my eyes, and it's all over so quickly it seems. But this video is the first time I've seen one of my shows from the audience's perspective and it's honestly one of the only times I've genuinely thought, "hmm, you know what? I'm pretty good at this stuff!" Of course, the video editing is superb, great job Rebel Cause Films.

So when is your next tutorial video coming out Slynk? I know, it's been a WHILE.
I wanted to do a little post and let you know what's been going on with me. Last summer here in Canada, things basically opened up again, the pandemic restrictions were lifted and I was getting booked to DJ at a lot of festivals and clubs around Canada. So that's the main reason for the lack of videos. But now things have calmed down again with gigs and I'm back in the studio writing music.
During the pandemic years, I didn't really write much music. It was stressful trying to figure out new ways to earn a living and without any upcoming shows or any light at the end of the tunnel, writing music wasn't really something I could prioritize. I ended up doing lots of sponsored Youtube videos to make enough money to get by, and I kinda got burnt out. I don't really enjoy being an "influencer" and I much preferred making videos to share cool Ableton tricks and techniques, rather than to make rent.
I have really been enjoying teaching 1-on-1 lessons for all of my students. They continue to be a source of inspiration for me. And I've been working really really hard these past 5-6 months on a bunch of new music which I can't wait to share with you all.
So moving forward into next year, expect to see videos of my new music as it comes out, but also the occasional tutorial video when I have the time and the right technique to share. I would like to post some videos about the process behind creating some of my new music and the techniques involved, but I'm not sure.
Let me know if that's something you'd be interested in. And if you have something you'd love for me to make a video about, let me know in the comments.

Most people on Youtube know me for my Ableton tutorials but some of you might know me from Roblox! A bunch of my songs are now playable in Robeats as well as a brand new track that is unreleased (coming out on spotify soon). Attention Duck Buddy Users: A pretty bad memory leak bud was discovered with the plugin yesterday. This bug can cause Live to crash and use up all your ram. It's bad. But we have since fixed the bug and I have just NOW updated the maxforlive download page with the new bug fixed version. So if you have already downloaded Duck Buddy, please revisit the download page and download again to get the fixed version!

Btw, I've not been very active here on youtube for a while now. With covid beginning to ease, I've started getting DJ bookings for shows once again so I've been spending the last while focusing on that stuff. I make funky music. Sometimes I do Ableton tutorials too. Teaching other people is a great way to learn it better yourself. If you can't explain how something works then you don't understand it enough.
