Aksolotl was born in Estonia in 2023 as an initiative to promote culture, art and literature. Aksolotl is plural and multidisciplinary and welcomes works in English, Estonian and Spanish from all authors. Its objective is to present a sample of contemporary literary work without borders. Aksolotl remains open primarily to creation and ideas surrounding literature and art, as well as traditions, popular expression, historical and social reflection, and thought – in short, culture in its most encompassing sense – in order to become a record that is not so much exhaustive as it is revealing of the life and cultural and artistic movements. Aksolotl emphasizes the creative work of new generations, in which the styles and languages that will give a different face to Estonian culture are already encouraged. It fosters a generational dialogue between young and established writers, intellectuals, and artists.
