The Board of Supervisors is the five-member governing body of the County of Los Angeles, a charter county. Members are elected by voters in their respective districts and are limited to three four-year terms.
Created by the state Legislature in 1852, the Board has executive, legislative and quasi-judicial roles, and it has the unique function of serving as head of the largest and most complex county government in the entire US.
