On this day in 1930, a Hal Roach feature "Night Owls" starring Laurel & Hardy was released to theatres. This is the first film to use Laurel & Hardy's "Ku-Ku theme song" at the opening titles. When this film was re-released, "the Ku-Ku song" was replaced with the instrumental piece of the song "Honolulu Baby" which comes from "Sons of the Desert" (1933). "Night Owls" was also filmed in Spanish under the title "Ladrones", which is 36 minutes longer than the English version. The English version runs 20:44 minutes.
