Onboarding is the quiet hero of any Mobile app, and Hereโs why I now take it seriously.
I used to pour all my energy into the main screens. Dashboards, analytics, profiles, etcetera. Because I thought that's where the magic happens.
But the more projects I work on, especially a particular fintech app I wouldn't want to mention, where trust and ease are everything. I started noticing something. If the onboarding doesnโt make sense, users never get to the magic.
One confusing step, an unclear button, or a less intuitive description is all it takes to lose a user before they even make it to the mqin page. I now see onboarding as the first impression that decides the user's experience. This is where you win trust, show users theyโre in the right place, and where your design either speaks clearly or gets skipped.
Iโve seen firsthand how a smoother onboarding flow leads to better retention. Not fancier visuals or extra features, just clarity and care from the very first tap. So if you're a designer who treats onboarding like a quick form or a skippable step, I promise, itโs worth a second look.
