in the future - u will be able to do some more stuff here,,,!! like pat catgirl- i mean um yeah... for now u can only see others's posts :c
I was watching Soulja Boy - Crank That and I noticed something.
There's a pattern across languages that coda consonants, which are consonants at the end of a syllable, rather than the beginning, tend to be deleted (i.e. not pronounced) or changed into other consonants (allophony). For example, non-rhotic (no r) accents will pronounce "car" as "caa", but will still pronounce the r in the word "real".
This song demonstrates coda consonant deletion beautifully. Most coda consonants are deleted, but not onset! For example: "ma(n), tha(t) dan(ce) wa(s) ugly", "wat(ch) me cran(k) that Soulja Boy, tha(t) Superma(n), tha(t), oh"...
Hope you enjoy the blas from the pas.

Alas, the readcoats fire their muskets anew. I was hoping I could count on their laziness. Long Live these videos!

Unfortunately, according to NBC, I lose.
Well, it was nice having a US / Canada audience while it lasted. You guys will have to VPN in from elsewhere now.
Maybe I'll start a new channel teaching linguistics in a new style that's indisputably fair-use. Stay tuned.
P.S. for whatever reason, NBC / Universal did release their claim on *ONE* video: Recursion 2 https://youtu.be/sK0AEE9ZcMs, so enjoy that if you can.

I have disputed NBC / Universal's copyright claims on 201 of my videos per fair use. They will not get away with this massacre Scott-free.
Bloody Friday shall live in infamy.

The Great Everyday Linguistics Massacre has commenced.
It looks like NBC is claiming all of my videos right now and blocking them in the US and Canada.
I apologize to all of my viewers in the US and CaNaDah. You may have to live without me from now on... Or use a VPN henceforth!
