Big explosive sounds as my one year old struggles to sleep, and is awakened with fright repeatedly by firecrackers?

Not a fan. And it's 2.35 am now and people aren't stopping.

I thought it was the environment I was protecting by not bursting crackers since 20 years now, but I think any new parent has one more reason.

Why do we still do it?
Don't we want some air left for our little ones to breathe? Or at least not scare the locality infants as they struggle to sleep in an already overwhelming atmosphere?

Diwali is a time for Joy, happiness, being together, sharing, spreading smiles and light.
Why can't we celebrate without all this good-for-nothing firecracker craze? Or at least limit it all for civility?

I wish everyone a happy Diwali with the mind's lightbulb also turned on along with all the festive lights.
