The New River Land Trust is a nonprofit natural and cultural resource conservation organization. Since 2002 it has helped conserve more than 56,000 acres of special places in the New River region of Virginia. The vision that drives this work is as follows.
The NRLT envisions the New River region with healthy mountain landscapes, diverse expansive forests, vibrant working farms, clean rivers and streams, preserved historic places, open spaces for people to enjoy, well-planned economically viable communities, and residents who appreciate the region’s rich natural and cultural heritage. The NRLT strives to accomplish this vision through education and the conservation of a growing network of valued landscapes that contribute to the economic, social, and environmental health of the region for generations to come.
