Singer/Songwriter/Musician: Rohit John Chettri

RJC is a singer, songwriter and guitarist from Kathmandu. Born in 1991, he found fame early when he uploaded some songs onto YouTube in 2013. His song ‘Bistarai’ received more than a million views, shooting him into the public spotlight at the young age of 21. In 2015, Rohit released an album by the same name, which established him firmly as a talent to watch. At the same time, he was asked to sing ‘Priyasiko’ for Gopal Yonjan’s tribute album ‘Gopalaya’. That year, Rohit was awarded Hits FM Best New Artist of the Year.

“I was working and study at the Kathmandu Jazz Conservatory at the time, and had realized that this is what I want to do: I want to play music and sing as professionals do.”

It was around this time that he was noticed by Sanjay Shrestha, drummer from 1974AD, Nepal’s most famous rock band. Rohit joined the band in late 2014 as lead singer/guitarist.
