We've just announced our 5th LP "Me and You," which is out Sept 23rd.
Today you can hear two songs - "Real Love" and "Devotion".
We filmed "Real Love" live at the Brunswick Ballroom with a 6-piece string section and a choir of buddies, including legends Maple Glider, Nat Vazer, David M. Western, Dainis from Cool Sounds and Anila from Partner Look. Go listen to all of them!!! We opted for a live vid instead of an official music video cos it felt more romantic and intimate. and the audio engineer Isaac did such an amazing job it almost sounds like the album version anyway!
The singles and album can be found/pre-ordered here: ffm.to/bigscary_meandyou

The video for our new single "Bursting At The Seams" is out today!
A disco rollerskating party, it's about that hopeful and obsessive time when you first meet someone... And it's our first single with Jo on lead vocals 💛

Our new video for "Get Out!". Inspired by The X-Files, Twin Peaks and The Cohen Brothers, we're in a small, timeless town (in this case central Victoria’s Castlemaine). We're here to deliver The Word Of Big Scary, and to acquire True Believers.

The 'Stay' video was written by Jo and it was going to be filmed on iphone, but then the legendary Baris from Near Dark Productions put together a team to fully improve it! Tom's scenes were inspired by Alfred Hitchcock's Norman Bates, Marlon Brando's Colonel Kurtz, Daffy from The Beach and the Men At Work clip for "Who Can It Be Now". Jo's scenes were inspired by M.C. Escher, Labyrinth & 90s cop shows.
Also the video for "The Owl" by I Love You But I've Chosen Darkness was a key - the still vs the frantic character.

"Stay" is the first song released of our upcoming 4th album 'Daisy'. It's about the anxiety you sometimes feel when invited to leave the safe bubble of home... but grateful to friends who offer invitations 💛

Melbourne two-piece Big Scary began life strumming and drumming in a suburban living room. 15 years later, Tom Iansek and Jo Syme are recognised as one of Australian music’s most respected and restlessly innovative indie partnerships.
They've created an extensive and critically acclaimed body of work across seven EPs - S/T (2008); The Mini EP (2009); At the Mercy of the Elements (2010); The Big Scary Four Seasons (Autumn/Winter/Spring/Summer) (2010) - and five full-length albums - Vacation (2011); Not Art (2013); Animal (2016); Daisy (2021); Me and You (2022) - which have seen nominations and wins at the AIR Awards, J Awards, ARIA Awards and the Australian Music Prize.
Their newly announced 6th LP 'Wing' will be out Feb 16th 2024, on the label they co-founded with their manager Pieater.
