Jesus teaches us what true manhood looks like Sin has been defeated but it shouldn't be flirted with We failed to be the image of God, so God took on the image of man The Bible calls us to a better story Don't become like Babylon, don't leave Babylon, be a light in Babylon When we try to be like the culture, we end up having nothing to offer the culture Christianity that isolates isn't' biblical Christianity Small compromises today can lead to great catastrophes tomorrow What are you doing today that can set you up to finish the race well? Remember your need and you’ll succeed What Makes Us Fragile Is Justice A Joke? Dying in the streets of Portland The Bible provides us vocabulary for what to do in response to any oppression. Jesus was a man immersed in the Psalms. The Psalms are inviting us to live a life with more integrity. The answer to our worries is a deeper source of peace. They don't have fear because their heart is secure trusting in the Lord. Your heart praises what it delights in. The purpose of life is to become loving like He is. If your delight's really in God, you're not going to have contempt for the poor. You're giving praise to God by telling others what He's done in your story. God's grace is the conclusion. God meets you where you're at and takes you to the place of abundance. If we see God working in our past, we can see God working in our future. When we have a heart of thanks we become more like what he intended us to be. The Christian life felt like a burden, but it was meant to be a blessing. If you're in it for wrong reasons, you'll burn out of it for the same reasons. Creation is a gift, salvation is a gift, and participation is a gift. Your heart can be so accustomed to cursing that you start to become blind to blessing. God doesn't want our begrudging service...he wants us to see as he sees, to want what he wants. However much you have a problem with the hypocrisy in the church, God has twice as much a problem. God doesn't want us to worship because He needs it, but because we need it. Thanks, Coolio Psalm 23 is telling us that in Jesus, heaven came looking for us Abundant life doesn't mean absence of difficulty... it means the presence of God It's one thing to believe that there is a God. It's another thing to trust in Him as your God. Politics and Jesus The Bible never claims that the universe displays man's greatness... it displays God's greatness We are seeing God's art Asking The Questions
