"Positive Cynicism" is the questioning of the sincerity or goodness of a person motives with the realization that everyone has the capacity to be good at heart if given the right guidance or role model in society. The opposite of cynicism is optimism and a true optimistic believer could also be viewed as naive or gullible. A "positive cynic" strives to be moral and good, but questions the goodness of everyone's motives to avoid being thought of as gullible or naive. This term is not to be confused with realism because a realist does not inherently believe that everyone has the capacity to be moral or good. A realist would think that truly evil people exist in society while a "positive cynic" thinks that society has created evil people that are always redeemable.
