“Who are you?” Wisteria questioned as she observed the stranger. They looked exotic to her, their appearance had completely captivated her curiosity. However, the most unsettling part that drew Teri’s attention was the peculiar mask that this stranger wore. The black eyes that seemed to be the eye sockets were empty and held an ominous vibe. As she was met with silence to her question, she repeated herself with her fear creeping in, “Who.. are you?”
She awaited their response, only to be met with silence once more. At least, so she thought. The stranger tilted their head, possibly a way to show her that they were thinking about what to say. As they readjusted their mask, Teri was surprisingly met with a muffled, feminine voice, “I should be asking you that, who are you?”
“I’m uh, I’m Teri,” she stuttered, her words involuntarily falling out of her mouth. It might have been her fight or flight response, but she wasn’t too sure. “Now then.. I’ve answered your question, answer mine.”
“They call me, Sirius.”
Wisteria stared at Sirius, what a strange name! She raised a brow, everything about this masked person was so unusual and out of place. Maybe they are a part of what many people and history books called “the ones from above.” Beings to be described as angelic and with great magical prowess to save the ones corrupted. At least, that’s what the books say. It was also one thing that her father believed in, which in turn, passed that belief down to Wisteria. That was, until she found out the truth.
“Sirius, what’s your purpose being so far out here? Far from any city, which seems like where you came from? After all, people dressed like you only visit the rural places if they have something of use to you,” she remarked, walking closer to them. As she invaded their personal space, she pointed at their chest. She was bluffing her words though, she couldn’t make it seem like she was meek and unable to uphold herself! She had something to prove, but it was only significant for her.
However she wasn’t quite expecting her bluff to work.
“I’m looking for someone — someone important to me. An old friend.” Sirius bluntly explained, their gaze narrowing at Wisteria. She didn’t even realize that she could see the expression until now. As if this meeting wasn’t strange enough, now suddenly she can see faces and expressions underneath a mask? Sirius continued, “Male, about my height, has brown hair and a sword.”
“‘m afraid you’re gonna have to be more descriptive than that, pal.” Wisteria backed away from Sirius, giving them the room to breathe. “What about a name to match that description?”
“Orion.”
She frowned. Where has she heard that name before?
