It's been a few months now but since I never got to properly voice anything about it publicly, here's a little bit of what Akira Toriyama meant to me.

Safe to say Dragon Ball has been the most formative piece of media in my life. It's instilled into every facet of my being, whether I'm looking at my shelves, walls, clothes, going to the gym, listening to music, playing video games or of course watching anime. My first experience with the series spans back to around 15 or so years back, turning on my floor model TV as a kid in Brasil and seeing the first Goku vs. Vegeta play that afternoon. I asked my parents for a Goku action figure right after for Christmas and my obsession just kept exponentially growing. From then on, I just kept consuming and investing more and more of myself into it, this magical world gave me an endless pool of comfort and inspiration, from watching the entirety of the anime, to reading my first comic, to making unforgettable memories with friends and family. Dragon Ball is the key component to where everything in my life traces back to, and without it I wouldn't be any of what I am today. The wisdom I took from Master Roshi's philosophy, that proud competitive drive Vegeta showed me, the never-ending cycles of self-improvement and taking obstacles head-on with a smile Goku taught me was possible, alongside every other lesson etched into these characters. No matter how much more media I've consumed since or have yet to consume, none have or will override any of the values Toriyama has passed down. He lives on forever through his work, through me, and through anyone else who was graced with the privilege of being raised with a carefree monkey boy carrying the most kindred of kindred spirits.

There’s a lot more I’d like to say but words aren’t enough to truly express my love for this franchise and what it's done for me, so we poured as much of it as we could into this Multi Editor Project in tribute, go watch!

Thank You, Toriyama.
