Watching Deb and Dan open their giveaway prize gave us All The Feels and made us a little teary tbh š This is your reminder to FIND YOUR COMMUNITY on YouTube. What homesteader stage are you at?
Discoverer, Dreamer, Dedicated, or Die-hard?
You are a DISCOVERER and just starting to get interested in self-sufficiency, growing your own food, and making your own home products. You are interested in organic food, natural solutions, permaculture, and helping the environment. You may have concerns about food security and donāt like how over-regulated some aspects of our current society are. You are looking for: INSPIRATION. You mostly consume content from the bigger name creators (on social or mainstream media) but are not yet a dedicated follower of many smaller, more niche topic creators.
You are a DREAMER and are well on your way down the homesteading or self-sufficiency rabbit hole. At this stage, you have more ideas and knowledge than practical experience, but you may have one or two topics you are actively gaining experience in, like gardening, preserving, DIY projects, keeping chickens or urban permaculture. You might be a regular visitor to farmerās markets, you like supporting homemade small businesses, or you would like to get involved with a community garden. You are looking for: INFORMATION. You enjoy learning and may well stay in this stage long term simply for the joy of knowledge and doing good in the world. You have started to find your favourite niche areas of interest and consume that content.
You are DEDICATED and are in the serious planning stage or might have already taken intentional steps towards starting your homestead on 1+ acres of land. You want to know the real-life practical aspects of homesteading. You might be building or needing to build extra infrastructure to support the different aspects of homesteading you want to explore. You feel like you are at the ābeginningā of your homesteading journey and are enjoying experimenting with new things. You have a clear vision of what you want in the future but may not know the exact steps you need to take to get there. You are looking for: INSPIRATION & EDUCATION. You want to see both a broad view of all that is possible as well as specialised education on particular topics of interest. You are starting to discover and connect with other homesteaders.
You are a DIE-HARD. You have made the leap and gone all in on homesteading and are 1-5 years into your homesteading journey (even though it might have been something of interest for years). You have land and are actively engaged in creating your homestead. You are starting to see what of your existing experience, skills and knowledge are transferable to the homestead and also noticing opportunities for further growth. You might be involved with projects such as building large structures like houses, and infrastructure for specific projects, starting or growing gardens and orchards, cooking or learning to cook from scratch with seasonal produce, also preserving and raising animals for different uses in the homestead, including food. You are looking for: COMMUNITY. Because you get inspiration from other active homesteaders with whom you can connect and from whom you can get specialised education around your knowledge gaps or ideas to improve what you are already doing.

Building, making & growing an off-grid homestead. Slow, sustainable off-grid living.
Husband and wife team who left their construction careers and moved to a 100-acre blank canvas to create an off-grid homestead from scratch. Driven by a desire for a more self-sufficient, environmentally caring, and sustainable lifestyle, Amanda and Corey switched out a comfortable city life to build, make and grow their off-grid dream.
