(Taken on 6/29/24). Here are some photos of the elevator at the Two Rivers Marketplace (AKA Schroederā€™s) in Two Rivers, WI. I was definitely not expecting to find an elevator here since this one is located in the part of the building that was built in 1916. But it seems like they have an Otis Lexan that was added sometime in the late 70s/early 80s given the logo on the door track.

Itā€™s kinda interesting how they decided to install a key switch for the locked floors instead of a separate lockout switch. I was also amazed to find an old rotary phone in the phone box as these types of phones are becoming increasingly rare nowadays. Definitely a neat install.

(Taken on 3/12/24). Here are some photos of a Federal Signal Model 2 in Valparaiso, IN that I filmed for the annual statewide tornado drill during Indiana Severe Weather Awareness (SWA) Week. This siren is located in a patch of grass just west of Valparaiso University. Sirens in Porter County used to do three cycles of alert for tests. But ever since 2016 when the county upgraded their siren system, they changed their testing policy to where each siren activates using three different signals: alert, attack, & this other one known as ā€œfire.ā€

These are also the same signals used when the annual tornado drill is being conducted. As part of the county-wide upgrade, they also replaced the controllers on Federal Signal sirens like this one with ASC controllers. Porter County tests their system on the 1st Tuesday of each month at 11:00 AM CST/CDT and at 9:15 AM CDT/10:15 AM EDT during Indiana SWA.

(Taken on 6/4/24). Here are some photos of the glass elevators at the Embassy Suites in Schaumburg, IL. These elevators are Westinghouse AEs that were installed in 1984. As of June 2024 and despite a hotel renovation that took place in 2019, these elevators are still original, run flawless for the most part, and best of all, have a working mechanical bell that elevator enthusiasts love the sound of known as the ā€œdinner bell.ā€ I really hope these elevators stay that way for as long as possible.

(Taken on 2/17/21). Here are some photos of the elevators at an office building in downtown Janesville, WI called One Parker Place. These elevators are Otis Lexans from 1980 and have the older button caps. They are also a great example of ones that use a unique type of floor indicator made by Industrial Electronic Engineers (IEE) known as the IEE indicator.

This indicator (shown in the 3rd and 5th photo in the post) uses a series of lights that project through their corresponding numbered lenses and then deflect off a mirror to display a number. This was definitely worth the visit as IEE indicators are not very common on Otis elevators nowadays, especially not on elevators like these that also have working mechanical bells.

(Taken on 2/17/21). Here are some photos of the elevator located near the Water St entrance to the Olde Towne Mall in Janesville, WI. This elevator was installed in 1984 by a third-party company based out of Quincy, IL called Hollister Whitney, and uses the round Inland buttons. I thought at first these buttons were CJ Anderson HHR, but are apparently not according to an employee from CJ Anderson.

There seems to be a slight ADA fail with this elevator as it does not serve the basement compared to the Armor elevator located near the Main St entrance on the opposite end of the mall. Aside from that, this elevator has a nice-sounding motor as well as an epic-sounding bell, which I sampled in my most recent YouTube Short.

(Taken on 2/17/21). Here are some photos of the elevator located near the Main St entrance to the Olde Towne Mall in Janesville, WI. This elevator is an Armor from 1967. However, instead of using the small black buttons that are typically seen on Armor elevators from the 50s/60s, this elevator uses these unique black buttons that look very similar to the GAL black buttons found on Dover elevators from the 60s.

Aside from having an impatient door that closes immediately right after it opens all the way, it's definitely a neat old elevator. It seems like Schumacher maintains this elevator, which probably explains why it is still in its original form.

(Taken on 7/13/22). Here are some photos of the ACA Hurricane 130 MKII located at Fire Station 39 in Milwaukee, WI. Since all the other Hurricanes that were produced by ACA have now been replaced (including the one in Darien, IL), removed, decommissioned, or taken into private possession, this is the only active Hurricane that remains making it extremely rare. Sirens in Milwaukee County are tested on the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 12:00 PM (unless the weather is inclement that day) in both alert & attack.

(Taken on 10/4/23). Here are some photos of a Dover Impulse elevator at Kishwaukee College in Malta, IL. This elevator is located in Building B of the campus. As you can tell by the photos, this elevator was out-of-order at the time I was here (and I believe still is).

To make things more unfortunate, since DMC-I controllers (found especially on Dover Impulse elevators) are considered obsolete according to ThyssenKrupp (TKE), this elevator, if havenā€™t already, may potentially get modernized. For this reason, I think we should definitely start to appreciate any existing Dover elevator for its quality.

(Taken on 11/24/23). Here are some photos of the side (auxiliary) elevator here in the Tower Apartments at Oakwood Village University Woods in Madison, WI. Compared to the main elevators which are Dover with the older Traditional buttons, this one is an Otis with Series 1 fixtures. While this may appear to be just an ordinary Series 1 traction, this one happens to have the ā€œGrandmaā€ voice.

This voice was commonly used on Otis Elevonic 401 elevators in the 80s/90s and is referred to as the grandma voice given the way it sounds. However, the fact that it is rare to find an E401 nowadays with the this voice and that this elevator is an Elevonic 411 (the successor to E401) makes this elevator even more rare. Iā€™m glad I finally got to experience the grandma voice, and am hoping someday or sometime soon, I find an older Otis with the ā€œGrandpaā€ voice (an alternative to the grandma voice at the time).

(Taken on 11/24/23). Sorry if Iā€™m late in the game in terms of YouTube Posts, but I figured Iā€™d take advantage of this new feature by including photos of some 15-story Dover Traditional elevators from the late 60s. These are located at the Tower Apartments on the Oakwood Village University Woods retirement campus in Madison, WI. While there were initial plans to demolish the building due to its structural integrity and from residents claiming these elevators are unsafe, the property was then reluctant enough to obtain taxpayer funds to renovate the building and potentially modernize these elevators.

However, to my knowledge, that still hasnā€™t happened. Thankfully, these elevators were still original when I took these photos on the date mentioned above. The downside with YouTube Posts is that you can only include up to 5 photos per post, so I chose the most significant photos of these elevators from all the rest. The other photos will be posted on my YouTube Instagram & Facebook pages. In addition to posts, I plan to take advantage of using YouTube Shorts to post ā€œshortā€ clips & behind-the-scenes (both 60 seconds or less) of things of my interests.
