Hi Folks,
Last week was a huge step forward.
Flying Coney got an Enteron. This black tank is a super small sewage treatment plant, suitable for marine use.
Once it is installed all the blackwater gets treated and we can legally pump it overboard. So no more pump out stations needed!
We are really excited about this system. First of all because it is a pretty cool system and Tom Logisch, the inventor himself visited us, to show us how it works.
And second because it is the first step towards our dream sailing ship. The first piece of equipment that get’s installed and will stay aboard, hopefully, forever. No more improvisations!
And of course there will be an in-depth video about the whole system coming soon. So if you have any questions about the Enteron, leave us a comment and we do our best to answer them in the video!

Hi Folks,
We just wanted to say THANK YOU for 30k Subscribers. 🥳
So far it has been an awesome journey together with you!
Recently we learned quite a lot about Flying Coneys time as a sailing ship and we can’t wait to share everything with you. Here is a sneak peak. Flying Coney as a Schooner Brig with a fully square-rigged forward mast.

Hi Folks,
We are really sorry that we didn’t manage to publish a video this week.
We are working on it for over a week now, but it is quite a work intensive video this time.
And we will publish it as soon as we are done. So probably at the beginning of next week, hopefully tomorrow.
So keep your eyes out for it, we hope you enjoy it!
All the best

Hi Folks,
Unfortunately you have to wait one more week for our next video.
Our time here in Austria is quite busy, but we do our best to make videos.
So we hope to see all of you next week with a new video about a real sailing ship.

Unfortunately there will be no video this week! Hope to see you folks next week. Recently I was researching a lot about tea clippers and just found out how many similarities there are in between those magnificent ships and Flying Coney. A lot of them were built in composit with metal frames and wooden planks. Also the hull shape is quite similar.
But why is that important?
For many people interested in historic sailing ships the time of the clippers is probably the most fascinating of cargo carrying sailing ships. They were fast, elegant and were almost raced around the globe. Speed was more important than capacity and the young captains where more sail racers than anything else.
One of those ships, the Champion of the Seas set a record for the fastest day’s run with 465 miles. This record stood for almost 130 years and was only beaten 1984 by a multihull and not before 2001 by another monohull. So the similarity in the hull shape with a sharp bow and a drop like shape amidships is one of the reasons why we believe that Flying Coney will be a fast and seaworthy sailing ship.
Who knows, maybe we even sail a little bit of cargo. I think tea would be appropriate.
In case you wondering we picked the name Flying Coney as a reference to those truly amazing ships. With the Flying Cloud, the Flying Fish, the Flying Eagle and the Flying Spur there are lots of flying ships around. So see you next week for another episode of rebuilding our little clipper ship.

Hi Folks,
This weeks video will be a bit late...
It is about Flying Coneys future interior layout and our vision of the sailing ship Flying Coney.
We are working on the video right now and it will be live tomorrow afternoon.
Make sure you don't miss it!

Hi Folks,
We worked the whole week on Flying Coney and made a lot of progress.
The former fish room is empty now and next week we can hopefully start to restore our wheelhouse.
But, we run out of time, so there is no video this week.
However, we recently removed the wooden base of Flying Coneys navigation lights from the wheelhouse, because they were completely rotten.
And of course we need navigation lights, and we want to mount them next week.
So now we are wondering:
1) Should we rebuild the base and attach them again on the sides of the wheelhouse?
2) Or should we mount the lights on top of the wheelhouse?
Let us know what you think.

In 2021 we bought a sailing ship.
Join us for a big refit project, sailing adventures and videos about boating and sailing.
So what’s this Chanel all about?
We will start with our endless search for a suitable vessel. Including all considerations we did before we finally found our ship.
Then we have to refit the vessel.
Overall we want to share a good mix of boat work, travel videos and boating knowledge with you.
