Short films of Chris Natrop, installation artist based in Los Angeles. Each video becomes an artwork onto itself, capturing the moments of past art projects and events. Documenting previous happenings through the eye of the artist, these films are the final iteration of an ephemeral practice. Hand cut paper is Natrop's primary medium. This delicate work is organized into large-scale site-specific art installations that become otherworldly immersive environments. As seen in many galleries and museums world-wide, Natrop's pioneering work within the traditional genre of cut-paper art bursts the boundaries of this traditional paper craft. Groupings of expansive cut-paper drawings ballon into room-sized experiences, creating the maximal effect out of minimal material. These installations document a fleeting moment, a one-of-a-kind experience prior to its enviable deflation. Also included are time-lapse films depicting permanent site-specific commission work, and in-studio processes.
