Today Charlie Munger has passed away at the age of 99. Charlie Munger is often remembered as the sidekick of Warren Buffett, which really quite underscores the achievements of him personally. He was indeed an indispensable part of Berkshire Hathaway as he pushed Warren Buffett and Berkshire Hathaway off the cigar-butt strategy into the 'buying formidable businesses at reasonable prices' strategy. However, Charlie Munger did much more, be it in the investment field or outside the investment field. When running his own fund he made the S&P500 look like a terrible investment (beating it by an average of 18.8% per annum) and even beat Warren Buffet's returns in those same years. During his time at Berkshire Hathaway he would often point out that Warren Buffett was wrong on certain matters. He always held strong opinions and did not back down from sharing those with the world. Putting his investment wit aside, he had a fascination and passion for architecture and real estate, and even worked as a successful lawyer for quite a while. Yet, above all, what Charlie Munger really should be remembered for is not that he was a billionaire or a sublime investor, but rather a man that has seen the darkest hours on this earth while living through the Great Depression, the Second World War (and serving in it), divorce, going blind and losing his child. Still, there was no moment that you could catch Charlie Munger complaining about any of these things. He always stressed that although life can be tough, one must always keep going. He was in that sense a father or a grandfather to all of us. May he rest in peace.

Dear all,

Once again thank you so much for your continued support on this channel and for your tenacity in leaving comments.

I appreciate the comments telling me to give updates on certain stocks or to come back quickly because I have not uploaded for almost a week now. This is indeed, quite unique. Funnily enough, I lost my microphone while going abroad and so unexpectedly I have not been able to record at all. That's why there are little uploads right now.

It will still take a while before I will be back, but fear not, back I will come. Until then, we must remain patient! I don't like the situation either, but we have to make the best of it.

Once again, thank you all! I will speak to you soon.

Dear viewers,

I want to thank you all for your continued support on this channel. I cannot express how much I appreciate it.

For about 14 days, I will be on vacation and so pre-recorded recordings will be uploaded (as long as circumstances allow) for the upcoming two weeks. After that, newly recorded video's will be uploaded as usual. For that reason, until that time it might take a little longer before I respond to comments or react to recent news in the stock market.

In the past week quite some interesting news came out concerning Alibaba, and as this is one of the prime topics of this channel, I do feel the responsibility to inform you about how I perceived the news. Of course, after the vacation period, I will continue to make videos about Alibaba and give my full-fledged opinion.

There are two main news items concerning Alibaba: the primary listing in HK and the exit of Jack Ma in controlling Ant Group. The market has responded negative to this news, as it might come across as if there is more trouble coming for Alibaba. Obviously there is a lot of uncertainty around the regulatory environment and Alibaba in particular, especially when it comes to the issue of delisting.

Both the exit of controlling Ant Group by Jack Ma as well as making HK the primary listing for Alibaba Group seem great measures to control this environment of uncertainty. The reduced power of Jack Ma (whose relationships are rocky with the Chinese government) is a good thing, as it reduced the need for additional punishments for Ant Group (and so indirectly for Alibaba). Moreover, making the HK listing the primary listing for Alibaba gives its shareholders more certainty, as in case of delisting, shares can easily be swapped out for HK shares. In fact, I would love to see other Chinese businesses do the same thing. It simply offers certainty to shareholders.

On the case of delisting and Chinese regulation, I am of the opinion that most of the fines and regulation imposed by China on its businesses, are deserved and not harmful for the businesses on the long-term. In fact, some abuse of power would be punished equally hard in Europe or the US. Of course, I do not know more than you do and so I cannot offer any reasonable predictions about the regulatory environment in China or if delisting will happen or not. Yet, I am certainly a big believer in a good outcome.

We're officially in a bear market. This means red numbers for a prolonged time and so, tons of opportunities. What companies do you want to see being analysed outside the S&P500? All businesses in the S&P500 will be analysed at some point, so please mention businesses that are not part of the S&P500. Enjoy your day and enjoy the ride through this bear market!

Are you already a member of the channel? I will add everyone to the Discord at the end of the weekend and start working on your video requests. I have great news. I will be working on a little essay about Alibaba, in which I (somewhat briefly) try to put the most important information about Alibaba all together. Once it is finished I will be sharing it with you, so that everyone has their own little guide about Alibaba on paper. Hopefully that could offer some of you some clarity in times of uncertainty and despair. Enjoy your weekend, and thank you all so much for supporting the channel.

My sincere apologies to you all. Unfortunately, today I'm not able to upload a new video as most of you would expect. I'm experiencing serious hardware issues, but I do expect it to be fixed tomorrow. You'll get one video about Alibaba and one about Xiaomi (per your request) tomorrow to make up for it.

Now, there has been something on my mind for quıte some time now. I was wondering if you would be interested in a channel membership option. One thing I want to make sure of is that none of you will be missing out on information. It is my responsibility to always inform you about movements in the markets to the best of my ability. That will NEVER change. Having that said, a channel membership allows for those of you that want to support the channel, to do so and in turn allows me to produce more videos for you. In return, I could offer you (the supporter), access to a discord channel so that this like-minded community can exchange thoughts and ideas. Also, for the higher ranks, I wanted to make an option to choose one video a month. Meaning, if you are a member of one of the higher ranks, I'll make a video per your request. If you want to say company A or B or C analyzed, I will dive into it and in turn, share my research and opinion with you. Of course, this video will be shared on the channel so that, once again, no one will be missing out.

I do believe that this structure would result in more content for you and the possibility for me to create that content. It allows those of you that can afford and want to support the channel to do so, but at the same time, it won't punish the people that don't have that option. These memberships are comparable to monthly subscriptions. So, to measure interest, let's put it to a vote. If you have any ideas or remarks, please feel free to share them!

I do appreciate your time and once again my apologies for the hardware issues.
