Yo guys...so I'm back! I didn't really mean to take break for six months (longest break I've taken since 2015), but adult life started getting in the way and the months started passing me by. Kinda crazy how my last video was about me just turning 20 and now I'm halfway to being 21 lolol. [LONG EXPLANATION BELOW]
Something that's contributed to my long hiatus has been a severe lack of motivation. For some reason, I felt like I had to keep up with the bigger horror channels. The cycle went like so:
"New horror thing? Gotta get it, film it, edit it, post it. Wait- that guy already did it in half the time? Crap."
I have no clue where I got the idea that that I was on the same level as people like Pastra or Billy Styler (perhaps it was bc of the growth this channel saw in 2022 after years of nothing, idk). Regardless, this self imposed delusion was killing my drive to make anything, especially my drive to finish the Foundation Files.
Speaking of- any passion I had to work on FF nearly dried up when I started to see the analog horror genre becoming swamped with more and more- to be quite frank- analog ripoffs. I started to see wave after wave of videos that, in my opinion, seemed only to have been created to cash in on a trend. That's not to say FF is some work of art or a masterpiece. It has flaws up the wall and, as the creator, I am well aware of its issues and the things I would've done differently looking back (I gotta get better at jumpscares lol). However, at the time it was really discouraging to spend months on something somewhat original just to see someone else throw the skin of a popular IP onto their lazily done video and somehow get 10x more views.
But that's ultimately where I went wrong. I started to focus too much on the number at the bottom of the screen and not enough on the story I was telling. Hopefully, I can fix that starting now. I can't guarantee that I'll have a consistent uploading schedule like I used to, but I'm not going anywhere.
