Hey! Quick update: The website has been rebuilt and the store is running. The holidays are here and the deadline to order is Dec 5th! After the 5th the DS store will be closed. New to the store is: holiday shirt, dirty smith wrapping paper, ds beer stickers, patches, mugs, and a new monogram hat with adjustable strap.

DS Gear orders over $69 through 12/5 will receive free shipping. This includes orders to Canada and USA. Just look for the discount on the checkout cart.

As always thank you for the support. Last Halloween was great as the Frank shirt was a hit!

When holding a hammer while “blacksmithing” -aka forging steel- where do you put your thumb? 👍🏼 🔨

Live stream update:
Live streams will be scheduled and posted on the home page for reminders. I will start them 30 min early to help anyone that need to get the notifications or suggestions from YouTube. They will be still be starting at 7pm central mon/wed/fri and lose on topics/themes. For example Craig called asking if I had pictures of a job we did from a couple of years ago, which I did. I need to make some adjustments to these pictures and clean them up before I send them to him. Can easily share this process, pics of the metal work in the home, etc.

Have a good day!

Live DirtySmith Evening Streams

Hey guys! A heads up about the Live 1-hour streams here on youtube Mondays, Wed and Fridays 7pm central standard time. I'll be using the newsletter once as I have figured out the software for any events/discussions; otherwise just expect the stream to occur at that schedule. Thanks to those that show up to the impromptu stream last night! Think it went well.

Im getting back to work! Have a good week.

An update as things here are growing! Getting things setup and have work in the shop through the winter. As some of you know Axle was laid to rest earlier this year. A big loss to our family as he was a huge part for the past 12 years. Late this summer we adopted two puppies from a local shelter, Miss Molly and Emmy that are full of energy and always curious about what's going on. As Dirty Smith is getting rebuilt, expanding and you want to stay informed, don't forget there is also a newsletter that I use apart from the social media and will be using to inform for events and news. Hope you are doing well and safe this holiday season.

See you on the next video and keep it dirty!

Hello! It’s been a while and what a year 2020 was! I do hope you are doing well. I’ve been getting asked “Dirty Smith...Rory... what happened?! Where are you?!” Well let me start off by saying I am fine, family is fine, and even Axle the dog is doing well. Yes I did move and leave the beautiful state of Colorado. Yes I did leave the family business and Craig still runs Dragon Forge LTD, although it was on good terms. Craig and I are fine and there is no animosity about the decision for me to leave. It was a topic that we had been discussing for some time. It just so happened that a global pandemic erupted while I was in transition moving.

So what’s going on now? Currently I am building my workshop in Missouri. Dirty Smith is taking the next stage and going to be a functional shop creating custom metal work. How could it not? I have a lifetime of experience of blacksmithing working at Dragon Forge LTD creating custom ironwork, and really did not want to give up my own journey because I needed to move.

Why did I move? There were a variety of reasons and situations that I had to confront. It's a long story and though I did not want to relocate, if I wanted to keep my blacksmithing career I had to.

I have not created any content in about a year as time was limited and choose to focus on the time left I had with my family. But things have calmed down a lot. So much so I’ve been watching other blacksmiths and seeing what they have been doing, even some tutorials, and some long winded rants of why they are doing it while using explosive adjectives. So much the stage has changed and what is being shared. It's been interesting observing.

But the purpose of the post is to see how you are doing? What have you been up to? What are you looking forward to in 2021? 2022? I do miss you and the engagement we had as it’s been too long.

BTW I made a poll to see what you may be interested in seeing in the future as I work on my blacksmith shop. Choose an option on the poll and leave a comment if you like.

Take care. And until next time, keep it dirty!
