The company was founded in 2012 by Monte Cook and Shanna Germain, following the record-setting Kickstarter campaign for the company’s first game, Numenera. Since then, Numenera has gone on to win the Origins Award for Best Roleplaying Game along with nine ENnie Awards, including Product of the Year. In 2014, MCG launched their second game, The Strange, which is also based on the same cypher system ruleset as Numenera.
