If you’ve only used a gel plate to print at home, you’re missing so many creative possibilities! The best mark-making tools are free and probably in your kitchen! So you want the flow of working on a series, but not the bore of making multiple editions? I get it You want to make layered art on paper, but you don’t want complex new processes? No energy to learn a complex new process? Keep it simple then- integrate into your current practice. If you’re print curious, it doesn’t mean you have to pivot your art- keep it simple and at home. Yes, it’s true, a lot of what I do isn’t strictly printmaking- but who wants to be strict anyway? So you’ve always loved printmaking, but you don’t know where to start? I say, simply, and at home. I love making delicious, transparent layers straight onto the paper with a roller! #printmaking Adding a little line of intense colour can really make all the others sing. Finishing off prints by hand isn't cheating- at least not in my book. Every print can be saved! Who says printmakers have to make editions? I often draw into my prints making them all unique.
