At the meantime here's a very opiniative BFDIA 17/TPOT 15 review
Leading to the two recent episodes, If it was used better it could have been used as an interesting plot point on a lot of levels and also been used to show how everyone interacts with each other. It just wasn’t done well. I don’t care that it’s “not really that big a deal” or “it’s still successful” but it’s failing at what it set out to do originally. Be more story based. All we’re getting is One in exchange for… characters and how they grow and change, the lifeblood of the entire show.
I don’t want to see my favorite webseries devolve into mindless chaos for the sake of chaos, which is why I’m so invested in the future of Tpot. And I’m that this episode of dropped arcs in favor of non-characters going through the motions while ruining everything they come into contact with will have future ramifications for the series with how well everyone seems to be taking it.
I don’t know whether this is a break or not from the arcs but it didn’t help any of them in my eyes. In other words, it wasted 48 minutes to say “hey. Here’s a bunch of altered scenes that are made even worse. Here’s who’s UFE.” Without characters and the arcs and interactions between them, the show is nothing. And since this episode had so few of those moments? I’m scared of the future.
