What do you consider the most important, most influential year in pop culture history? 1964 with the Beatles on Ed Sullivan? 1972 with Pong and the Magnavox Odyssey? 1977 with Atari 2600 and Star Wars? 1989 with Game Boy, Genesis, Nirvana and The Little Mermaid? Some other year? Let me know your choice and why in the comments! https://youtu.be/YnkFnFTGDzM?si=prKFg...

For my latest Patreon perk, I told my Patrons to let me know of any project, personal, or otherwise, that they wanted me to promote. Eric asked me to promote Jonathan Leung's YouTube channel because he's a fan. I'm a fan as well--Leung is incredibly thorough with his reviews. So, I've linked to Leung's review of the N64 Encyclopedia by Chris Scullion: https://youtu.be/nGWz6DYxliA?si=EYaUS...

Finally got a chance to watch Ozzy get inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for his solo work, and I got choked up a little. Iāve been obsessed with Ozzy since I was 16, when the girl I was dating left a copy of Blizzard of Oz in my car (she never got it backš). That album, along with Diary of a Madman, are my two favorite LPs of all time, ahead of KISS, The Who, Zeppelin, Priest, Maiden, The Beatles, The Stones, or anyone else. For me, it was (and still is) all about his unique voice and the brilliant, mind-melting, ass-kicking music. And jamming with my friends, primarily Johnnie Holloway. Everything else, all the crazy, while often fun (and funny), was secondary. Not only is Ozzy an amazing frontman, he has surrounded himself with some of the greatest musicians in rock, like the late, great Randy Rhoads. The induction wasnāt perfect (no mention of Jake E. Lee, and they couldāve gotten a better singer for Crazy Train, for example), but it was very good and even touching at times. I agree wholeheartedly, Jack Black, with your appropriately profanity-laced, appropriately ānot worthyā tribute; nice job enshrining the Prince of Darkness, aka the Godfather of Metal, into the Rock Hall (long overdue for his long solo career):

Welcome to my YouTube channel. I'm Brett Weiss, author of 12 books, including the Classic Home Video Games series, The 100 Greatest Console Video Games: 1977-1987, and The SNES Omnibus. My latest is The NES Omnibus: The Nintendo Entertainment System and Its Games, Volume 1 (AāL). I like video games and other aspects of pop culture. A lot. And I enjoy talking about them. I've been gaming since 1975 and writing professionally about video games and pop culture since 1997. My latest venture is called Tales from a Retro Gamer, a YouTube series where I discuss the history of gaming from a personal standpoint. Things like my first video game, rare finds I've made, conventions I've attended, famous gamers I've met, the first time I played the NES, and more. I also do pop culture tours and gamer interviews. Enjoy!
