Anyone who said this movie hates men missed the part where the moral of the story happened. This movie loves men just as much as it loves women #Barbie

In a story about privilege and the the nepotistic fratricidal power dynamics of billionaire families, the one who comes out on top should be the one who made the fewest enemies, the one with the smallest target in their back. With privilege as an underlying theme, it would only make sense that the white man with the good name lucks into power despite their lack of competence. All this, and with Mattsson looking for an American CEO who can act as a puppet for him, thereās one #Succession character that unironically and sincerely makes more sense than all the rest to take over Waystar when you consider the theme of the show.

A lot of āfansā hate how the #Mandalorian season finale went. Iām working on a larger #starwars video, but hereās my hot take on The Mandalorian Season 3 (SPOILERS AHEAD):
Ever since the sequel trilogy, Iāve heard people complaining about how Star Wars no longer has any good character writing.
#BoKatan starts the season with no dark saber, and no followers because of it. She ends with no dark saber, but a following in spite of it. Thatās good character writing.
#DinDjarin starts the season an isolated outcast with no home to return to. He ends the season in isolation, but with a true family and a home of his own. Thatās good character writing.
#Grogu starts the season having abandoned the force. He ends the season by saving everyone with the force. Thatās good character writing.
#PazVizla starts the season living for his own pride. He ends it dying for the sake of his people. Thatās good character writing.
#MoffGideon starts the season as an imperial trying to control and destroy the remnants of Mandalore in order to live on forever. He ends it by having himself and his clones destroyed completely by a remnant of the empire that is controlled by a Mandalorian. Thatās good character writing.
This was an excellent season filled with excellent character writing. If you didnāt like it, no shade to you. But it canāt in good conscience be said that Star Wars has lost its ability to tell ācharacter driven stories.ā It still does it better than most franchises. Yet, a certain subgroup of fans say it makes āno narrative senseā and that Star Wars has lost its ability to tell good stories (along with blaming Kathy Kennedy every time they spill their coffee).
If Mandalorian Season 3 Finale delivered on what āfansā say has been lacking, and yet they still hate on it, I wonder if itās not actually the writing they care about.

The Media Matters Channel is a series about why different media...matters.
Games, movies, music, news, deconstructed through the lens of my personal opinion in pursuit of finding the meaning in all of it.
