First fun facts of the year about The Rare Occasions:

First fun fact of the weekend: "Tether" was almost titled "Worm vs. Worm"

Second fun fact of the weekend: at the first shows (at Tufts and AS220) they performed as "The Custodians" (named after a song Luke had written with the chorus "I'm a custodian / I'm a custodian / Don't call me a janitor 'cuz I'm a custodian"). They had a few friends switch off playing lead guitar.

Today Weekend fun fact:
Did you know that the song Miss Mary Mack from the Applefork EP by The Rare Occasions had an orchestral intro?

"In the early stages of recording "Miss Mary Mack" we had an orchestral intro that we eventually cut because we thought it sounded too creepy! Here's what it would have sounded like:

m.soundcloud.com/the-rare-occasions/unreleased-mac… "

Sadly the intro is not available, but it must have been great to hear it :D

Today's weekend fun fat:
Did you know that The Rare Occasions has a lot of content that is currently private or unavailable?

This included live performances from their first shows, promos, covers, and also random videos of them doing weird things lol (This also includes full playlists).

All of these content were once available to the entire public, but for some reason they decided to make them private (clarify, they were not deleted, they are still there, but only the channel owners can see them), becoming lost media.

For example: this video of The Rare Occasions playing 'Anyway' at the Tufts Woodstock:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JOu-uU... (video title was: "Anyway at Tufts' Woodstock")

Or this Playlist of The Rare Occasions show at WEMF:
youtube.com/playlist?list=PLV...

Or Getaway live at The Middle East:
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=XVDcU6W... (video title was: The Rare Occasions | Getaway (Live @ The Middle East)

*another fact is that this content became private shortly after Peter left the band and before Notion exploded on Tik tok.

*and it is also worth mentioning that TRO said several times that they uploaded practically everything they did to their social networks, to give you an idea, when they uploaded the Dysphoric music video they already had 19 videos uploaded to YT.

Today's weekend fun fact: On a day like yesterday, six years ago (Sept 21, 2018), Peter's departure from the band was announced.

"As some of you may already know, Peter has decided to step away from the band. It has been an amazing 6+ years writing, recording, and touring with him. We will miss his incredible guitar playing, songwriting skills, and outstanding choices of headwear, and we wish him the very best in his endeavors and look forward to our paths crossing again." ~TRO

Another fun fact is that six years ago, Peter left (2018-2024), and he was in the band for six years (2012-2018).

Today's weekend fun fact:
Did you know that The Rare Occasions won the Berklee Groove Songwriting Contest in 2013?

In November 2013, The Rare Occasions was one of three finalists in the InTheGroove Songwriting Competition with their song "Scarlet lies" vs Fate & The Family Band and Sam Fisher.

So on November 7th the three finalists presented themselves at The Red Room @ Cafe 939 to perform their winning song and be voted.

So, as you can imagine, The Rare Occasions was crowned the first place winner of 2013 #InTheGroove Songwriting Competition (by two votes), which gave them a consultation with the legendary John Oates (from Hall and Oates), 10 hours of studio time, and a featured interview.

*Below I add some photos of The Rare Occasions performing their song Scarlet Lies at Red Room @ Cafe 939, and in the last pic hosting a Skype with John Oates!

Today's weekend fun fact:
One of the first events The Rare Occasions won, after the battle of the bands at Tufts, was at Valley Throwdown 2012.

After winning first place in the competition against four bands, The Rare Occasions had the opportunity to record a single at Stone Otis Studios (when they recorded the drum track for Applefork), $300 Guitar Center shopping-spree, music featured on the popular UK music show The Captain SIB Show, live appearance/performance on UNregular Radio and a spot in a show at the Hard Rock Cafe.

Show preview: https://youtu.be/83XOassMr3w?si=z21Li...

I added some photos below, during and after the event (performing their song: The Uke Song):

Weekend fun fact:
Did you know that in the early stages of The Rare Occasions, they had merch that is currently not available?
This included t-shirts, stickers, floppy disks, and more! There were even Demo Recordings CDs.

Here I add some photos of this merch: (only 5 pics because YT won't let me upload more, sad)
