Pandit Divyang Vakil (known as Guruji, or “respected teacher”) is a maestro of Tabla and rhythm, renowned for his teaching excellence and intricate rhythm compositions; as well as a Guru of spirituality and philosophy. In his expansive music teaching career of over 43 years he has produced innumerable music professionals.
As a composer, he has given shape to a contemporary form of classical Tabla playing through his repertoire that numbers in the tens of thousands of compositions. Beyond Tabla he has created works for a variety of instruments including African Djembe, Korean Janggu, Drumkit and more.
Currently he is conducting extensive rhythm training for Kathak dancers across the globe through his ‘Taalvidya’ programs.
A Guru of spirituality and philosophy, Guruji does not belong to any tradition or religion but seeks to provide a balanced and unbiased perspective. His understanding of both the mundane and subtler worlds lends itself to teachings that can be utilized by all.
