Part 2 of my conversation with ‪@MelTorres‬ on the Fortin Amps channel is live! This is at the end of the conversation so we were already pretty deep in the conversation. This one, we get to the heart of the question, "why create content?", in the first place. Hope y'all enjoy!

Things have been a bit quiet around here because I've been super busy with project work. However! Here's an interview I did with Fortinamps frontman, Mel Torres!

We talked about a ton of stuff around the pathway to content creation, creativity, and so much more. If that sounds like a good time, head to the channel and give it a listen/watch.

Also also, I have some content in the scripting phase so keep your eyes posted... maybe even to later this week. 😉

New interview piece I edited for ‪@modernmusicsolutions‬ and ‪@sonicassaultstudiosfl‬ about the release of Phil's signature IR pack. Really stoked with how this turned out so if you're interested, please go check it out. 😊🤘

If you're in the market for some quality IR's, be sure to check them out!

What do you think is now the standard for guitar plugins, feature-wise?

I feel like we've gotten to a place where the hype is slowly fading with new guitar plugins. There have been a ton of great plugins coming out, but it seems the excitement isn't there like it used to be just 2 or 3 years ago. Not that this is bad or that the market is "saturated," as I've seen a lot of people mention. I think that the quality or amp modeling and IR technology have just caught up with physical models, so there's naturally going to be a normalization of expected quality. Pick any 5150 modeled plugin and it's probably going to sound almost indistinguishable to the real thing aside from maybe lacking some of the "in-the-room" feeling that would be natural to a real speaker cab sitting next to you.

That being said, plugin companies can't market a plugin to you saying "it sounds so realistic" anymore because at the end of the day, they kind of all sound kind of great. We'll see more innovation and competition going forward, which will be interesting to watch.

So, as we move forward, what features, company offerings, or creative applications are important to you when considering purchasing a new plugin? What do you also think the next step is? Are we going to see a swing back towards physical models? I'd love to know your thoughts if you have any. ❤️

Had a bunch of client work hit my desk over the weekend so I probably won't have a video ready for this week. However, i'm planning on doing a plugin demo of McRocklin Suite by Polychrome DSP and the Clairvoyant Amp Suite by Modern Metal Songwriters.

What are some guitar/bass amp sims that have grabbed your attention recently?

Question: when you watch a guitar or bass plugin demo/walkthrough, what do you weigh your opinion on more; the raw tones from the plugin or the fully mixed/produced demo? I'm working up a demo for ‪@McRocklin‬ suite right now and I'm wondering if I should spend more time showcasing the raw tones where I just play guitar or whether I should keep going the way I have and work up a musical piece so everything can be heard in context of a full song.

Huge welcome to everyone who subscribed in the last 2 weeks! Y'all are awesome!

I have one more short videography video lined up and then I have the Mcrocklin Suite and MMS Clairvoyant demos/walkthroughs in the queue. I'm working up a "back-to-basics" series as well where I go through the fundamentals of getting your guitars/bass written, all the way to finished product.

My questions is, what are some of the things you'd like to see on the channel? Any particular plugins you'd like a demo on or a step in the writing/recording/mixing process you need some insight into? Whatever it is, let me know!

Cheers!

Just finished up an edit for a video to drop on Monday! This is about a question I get asked a lot about; "Can I use my phone for creating high quality cinematic content?" So, I took several test shots and made some comparisons of the raw footage and then with mild color correction. I was pretty surprised by the results so stay tuned for Monday! <3
