BROOKLYN, December 2nd, 2024: Jeff Parker and the ETA IVtet kick off a three-night International Anthem residency at Public Records, co-presented by Qobuz. The residency also features performances by SML (December 3rd) and Anna Butterss (December 4th), highlighting the prolific and powerful contingency of inter-connected musicians that have grown around Parker in Los Angeles over the last ~7 years.
For the first night โ Monday, December 2 โ the guitarist Parker and his ETA IVtet (w/ saxophonist Josh Johnson, bassist Anna Butterss, and drummer Jay Bellerose) will perform twice, just over a week after the release of their new album The Way Out of Easy. The two performances are sold separately.
Night two โ Tuesday, December 3 โ is the NY debut of SML โ the improvisational trance/jazz quintet born of the same Northeast LA hotbed (ETA) that long housed Parker's IVtet โ which also features Butterss and Johnson, alongside synthesist Jeremiah Chiu, drummer Booker Stardrum, and guitarist Gregory Uhlmann.
On the third and final night โ Wednesday, December 4 โ bassist Anna Butterss will front their Mighty Vertebrate band with (again) Johnson and Uhlmann, plus drummer Ben Lumsdaine. This show will also feature an opening set by the improvisational duo of Jeremiah Chiu and Alabaster DePlume, who play together for the first time since an impromptu Sunday morning set at the Vintage Synth Museum in LA back in Summer 2023.
