Not a lot of people know that - the notorious London gangland Kray twins were very enthusiastic about the world renowned contemporary London based artist Francis Bacon and his paintings. Not satisfied with admiring his work from afar (being friends and acquaintances) they would also break into his East London studio and periodically steal a few for themselves. Later after Reggie and Ronnie Kray were incarcerated for numerous crimes, they took up painting as a way to pass the time and always sought the rather reluctant approval and advice of the modern master.
