I’ve been shoeing horses since 2005 on the New Hampshire seacoast. It’s always an adventure, but the satisfaction of helping the horses makes it all worth it.
I grew up riding and showing Dressage and Hunters/Jumpers all over New England. When I was about 11, for Christmas my parents got me my first horse. Our giant teddy bear named Kelsey, he was a chestnut German Hanoverian born in New Hampshire. Kelsey got injured a few years later, so we bought our crocodile, a bay Swedish Warmblood named Boo, originally from Rhode Island. They were both amazing horses and I was so lucky to have them. Both horses have since passed.
Once I turned 18 I mostly retired from riding and started shoeing full time. I attended and graduated from the Eastern School of Farriery in Virginia. School was 8 weeks and was taught by Hall-of-Famer Danny Ward. I then apprenticed for ~4 years, split between two different incredible Farriers with 20+ years experience who also graduated from Danny’s school.
