The McMurdo Oceanographic Observatory, affectionately known as MOO, is a new underwater scientific observatory in Antarctica, with the ultimate goal of providing real-time seawater conditions, underwater audio, and live-streaming video year-round from under the sea ice in remote McMurdo Sound, Ross Sea, Antarctica.
It was installed in November 2017 by a small team of biologists, programmers and scientific divers under US Antarctic Program science group B-195-M at McMurdo Station. MOO is positioned on the sea floor at 70-feet (21m) deep at a site representative of many coastal Antarctic habitats. MOO receives power and data connection from shore.

The MOO is a project managed by Paul Cziko at the University of Oregon, supported by the US Antarctic Program, and funded by the US National Science Foundation.
