I’m excited to say that this year I’ll be partnering with the Orvis Saltwater Festival!
The Festival played a big part in inspiring me to properly get into saltwater fly fishing and is now an event I really look forward to and enjoy each year. The best part is that it suits anglers of all abilities so if you are a complete beginner or a seasoned saltwater fly fisher, the festival has so much to offer.

It’s no great surprise that the Winter has been quiet on the fishing front for me. But I have been busy working on some things for this years saltwater fishing.
Something I’m really keen to do is catch bass (and hopefully other species) on crab flies. I know bass love to munch on crabs and I also know that lure anglers have a lot of success with ‘creature baits’ so I’ve been working on fly patterns to emulate that.
Currently I’m building myself a new 8wt to fish for bass and that will also be a video when it’s done. But I’m also going to do a deeper dive into my fly box and what flies I’ll be using this year for a bit more detail on top of my old videos where I cover off what flies to fish for bass.
Tight lines!

Working on filling my bass fly box for next year, starting off with deceivers which I haven’t tied many of before. Not being overly critical of myself yet but hoping they get a bit tidier as I get more practise, a rinse after tying lets me see what their profile will be like in the water and when they dry they look a bit tidier 😄 Looking forward to fishing these guys with an intermediate line early in the season.

I’m editing my next video and it’s got me thinking, what would you like to see more of in my fishing videos?

Cheers to 1000 YouTube subscribers!
Who’d have thought 2 years ago I’d be here, after buying a #GoPro thinking it would be fun to get some hits on camera to being where I am now.
Social media often gets a bad rep, but it really has been a massive opportunity for me to meet new people and gain new opportunities and I truly believe my YouTube channel has had a big part to play in that.
I want to say a massive thank you to the people that watch my videos, there are seemingly a hell of a lot more of you that enjoy my content than I ever could have imagined and it has been the support and encouragement that I’ve received that has spurred me on to improve and evolve.
I have lots of things planned, LOTs more saltwater videos, hopefully this Winter will be a bit better for pike on the fly, rod building, at some point carp on the fly needs to happen and lots more!
Thanks again 🍻

Tonight at 4pm a new episode of The Reel will be live! I started this video in March and I’ve been trying really hard to achieve the goal of catching another mullet. With a little help from my friend Lewis, I can definitely say I’ve never been more confident about catching them, but at the same time frustrated with them 😄

Wednesday, 31st July at 4pm, my first fly tying video is going live. My tying is pretty basic and gets the job done, but the main thing is they catch fish! In response to what are my go to flies? That I missed on my Q&A, here is the first one. Tight lines!

Thanks to everyone who joined the live last night, I hope you all got some useful information out of it to take on your next Saltwater Fly trip. I think there was an issue with the live chat and not all the questions made it to me, one in particular that I definitely didn’t cover was ‘what is my go to fly?’, now for mullet that is a tricky question and could be a whole video in itself. But for bass, I’ve caught all my fish on either an orange or chartreuse Clouser, or a white Gurgler. They are all pictured below and I will be making a video where I talk through how and why I fish these flies as well as how to tie them yourself. Tight lines!
